Causes of Crawl Space Moisture
There are many homes all over Ohio, both old and new, which were built with a crawl space environment beneath them. During the construction process, this small but important structure was built quickly, and it’s likely that the contractor didn’t give much thought to properly waterproofing the space so that moisture wouldn’t eventually become an issue for the homeowner. Over time, if the crawl space is not properly sealed, it will let in a lot of moisture from the soils, and from rains or melting snow on the property. Once inside, the moisture can cause damage to anything kept in this area, which could be HVAC systems, gas meters, water meters, and so on. Also, the water will damage the wooden support beams and floor joists below the home, and this will ultimately lead to even more serious problems for the homeowner to contend with.
